Amsterdam is a wonderful city, but Europe has too many...

Amsterdam is a wonderful city, but Europe has too many tourists these days. We walked around the Red Light District one afternoon and it was so crowded you could barely walk down the street -- and this only was May 3! Highly recommend the Wine and Cheese canal tour. Inexpensive and they gave you plenty of wine and cheese. The Keukenhof Gardens, which we had been looking forward to seeing were so densely packed that we only stayed an hour and a half and left. Gardens were beautiful, but only open for 3 weeks out of the year! Impossible to get tickets to Ann Frank House, tour companies or private guides must go there an buy them the day they go on sale. So sadly we didn't get to go inside.

We think Amsterdam is a lovely city.

We think Amsterdam is a lovely city. It is very clean and the tram system makes it very easy to get around. The food prices generally were similar to London prices, most meals we had we really enjoyed. The only thing that was expensive were the taxis, which we only used to and from the station, about €40 euros both times, for not a very long journey. However it was our choice to use the taxi rather than the tram which would have been much cheaper so we know next time. Other than that, our stay was lovely and we would definitely return.

Great attractions, vibrant nightlife and restaurant scene, lovely river cruises, Giant Swing was fun. Very dirty in general, rubbish all over the place Day and Night. Too many drugged people roaming around. We are lucky to be on a long holiday from Australia, we have loved each place so far except for Amsterdam, we left a day early.

Good city with plenty to do even if its very touristy.

Good city with plenty to do even if its very touristy. Getting around can be very tricky but with free street maps and google and little shoe leather, very friendly, helpful locals helps the day flow. More expensive that other Dutch cities but well worth the visit for the the history, architecture and museums and if you want to get away from the cultural side pop along to the Heineken Experience have a couple of beers and chill

Hotel was easy walking distance from museums, canal rides, Albert Culp market, flower market and most attractions. Wonderful place to visit. Restaurants and cafes everywhere. Transportation options are excellent. Once you get adjusted to the thousands of bicycles everywhere and the hazards of the bike lanes it is easy to get around. Close to the city center but very quiet and safe area. Many nice restaurants in walking distance, including Box Sociall, Olijfje, Ku Kitchen, etc. Just located on the canal. You can walk along the canal to the center. Just next to Amsterdam Law/Business School. Spacious with nice interior design. Very kind reception desk for 24 hours/basic housing supply/garbage cleaning + spacious bedroom/living room/kitchen, offering good points from hotel and airbnb combined. We arrived very early in Amsterdam and were able to access our room much earlier than expected. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The advance assistance by WhatsApp was also very useful. There's a very good breakfast buffet. The hotel is located a little way from the city centre, but is quieter as a result. Also, there are good bus connections right outside the hotel and the walk into town through Westerpark is very nice - there are also plenty of cafes and places to eat around there.

Modern hotel with 24hrs reception and self service for check-in and check-out. The room had a lot of storage space, big shower and an espresso machine; the view from the 7th floor was nice. The hotel is located outside the city centre, but the location is very handy as it's just across the tram line stop that takes you to Amsterdam Central (about 30 mins); furthermore, the train station Lelylaan is a short walk away, and it will take you to Shipol Airport in about 15 mins.

Location was excellent, the old City Centre & Central station were literally on the doorstep. The staff were professional, very friendly & could not have been more helpful when our Airline cancelled our flight a few hours before we were meant to head for the airport.
